Urvashi Dhanorkar, a small-time Indian TV actress, was taken into custody on Saturday in Mumbai on charge of cruelly mistreating a 10-year-old maiden, who was working as her domestic servant. Urvashi Urvashi Dhanorkar was apprehended under Child Labor Act and Juvenile Justice Act and is now in the police station to be presented in court soon.
Her detainment was done after confirmation of the medical reports that her domestic help was physically assaulted and abused. Kept at Amboli Police Station, Urvashi Dhanorkar is likely to be presented in the court of law today on Saturday 22-Aug, 2009.
According to medical reports, the servant girl was cruelly hit in her eye; at her black leaving beaten marks and her arm too was burnt ruthlessly. The parents of that girl still not arrived from Amravati, a place from where, Urvashi Dhanorkar had taken that girl with a claim that she would provide her education. The victim girl, still in police custody waiting for her parents, said that Urvashi had brought her in Mumbai to send her in the school for education but she did not fulfill her commitment and beaten her cruelly, adding to that she was kept in locks for more than a week but lastly she succeeded to let herself out and the neighbors saw her beaten marks and took her to the nearest police station.

MOSCOW — The Israeli president, Shimon Peres, said Wednesday that his Russian counterpart, Dmitri A. Medvedev, had promised to reconsider Russia’s plans to provide advanced surface-to-air missiles to Iran, a deal that Washington has also sought to halt.
The missiles would offer Iran considerable confidence that it could prevent airstrikes on its nuclear sites...
Mr. Peres spoke about the missiles at a morning news conference in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, after talks with Mr. Medvedev there on Tuesday. He said Mr. Medvedev “gave a promise he will reconsider the sales of the S-300 because this affects the delicate balance which exists already in the Middle East, and will enforce, in my judgment, the aggressive intentions of Iran.”
Israel and many Western nations suspect that Iran is seeking a nuclear weapon, while Iran says its nuclear program is solely for generating electricity. Israel has repeatedly raised the possibility of airstrikes to halt Iran’s nuclear progress.

WASHINGTON — The CIA hired private contractors from Blackwater USA in 2004 as part of a secret program to kill top-level members of al-Qaida, but a spokesman says it never resulted in the capture or killing of any terrorist suspects.
Former Rep. Porter Goss was CIA director at the time, and the contract ended during his time in office, according to a former senior intelligence official and another person familiar with the program. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the program remains classified.
The New York Times first reported Blackwater’s involvement late Wednesday on its Web site.
The Times, citing unidentified current and former government officials, said Blackwater executives helped with planning, training and surveillance for the program. It was begun shortly after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks but never became fully operational.
CIA Director Leon Panetta terminated the program in June upon learning of it, then informed the congressional intelligence committees in an emergency briefing the next day. CIA spokesman George Little said the program yielded no successes.
The officials told the Times that the CIA’s use of an outside company for a potentially lethal program was a major reason Panetta called the emergency congressional briefing.
Blackwater, a North Carolina company now known as Xe Services, has come under heavy criticism for its alleged role in a September 2007 shooting in Baghdad’s Nisoor Square that left 17 Iraqi civilians dead.
It was unclear whether the CIA had planned to use the contractors to capture or kill al-Qaida operatives or just to help with training and surveillance. Government officials said bringing outsiders into a program with lethal authority raised deep concerns about accountability in covert operations, the Times reported.
The Times reported that the CIA did not have a formal contract with Blackwater for this program but instead had individual agreements with top company officials, including founder Erik D. Prince.
The revelation of the program created a small political firestorm on Capitol Hill. The House Intelligence Committee in June launched an investigation to determine whether the CIA broke the law by not informing Congress about the secret program as soon as it was begun.
The program had several lives under four successive CIA directors: George Tenet canceled it during his tenure because it never produced results. His successor, Goss, restarted it and inked the Blackwater contracts. Michael Hayden, Goss’ successor, downgraded the program from a planned covert action to an intelligence gathering activity. Panetta drove the final stake into the program in June.
Former CIA Director Hayden, speaking Thursday at a panel discussion at the National Press Club, said he was initially puzzled by the urgency and excitement surrounding Panetta’s briefing to Congress, knowing what he did already about the program. He said he believes Panetta called the emergency meeting because of the political sensitivity of the program rather than concerns about its legality. Hayden would not discuss details of the still classified effort.
Jack Devine, a 32-year veteran of the CIA’s clandestine operations office, said Thursday that the government should be extremely cautious about outsourcing lethal and sensitive CIA operations— in part because those are important capabilities the spy agency should be developing in-house, but also because it looks bad if the operation becomes public.
“If it won’t pass the giggle test, you don’t want to be involved in it,” Devine said.
The CIA regularly uses contractors for intelligence analysis and operations, Hayden told Congress last year. Contractors participated in the secret harsh interrogations of terrorist suspects, he said. Contractors are no longer allowed to conduct interrogations, Panetta told Congress in April.
More than a quarter of the U.S. intelligence agencies’ employees are outside contractors, hired to fill in gaps in the military and civilian work force. About a quarter of them conduct intelligence collection and operations, according to data released last year by the office of the director of national intelligence.
The CIA lost about 25 percent of its manpower and budget in the post-Cold War years, so when the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks happened was forced to hire a large number of contractors to plug gaps while it recruited more personnel. About half the CIA is comprised of officers hired since the attacks.
Calls to Xe spokeswoman Stacy DeLuke were not immediately returned.

strict worldwide attention and criticism. Because of her outstanding performance in the race, throaty voice and muscular build, Semenya’s gender has been brought into question by the authorities at the IAAF (the International Association of Athletics Federations).
Semenya has improved greatly in one year’s time by improving 8 seconds off of her personal best 2-lap race time. The IAAF and other official parties involved tried to keep the investigation under wraps, but information was leaked by someone at the clinic that was conducting the testing of Semenya. For a teenager, this has become highly embarrassing and humiliating. The outcome has not yet been determined and already the speculation and the press surrounding the event have become somewhat unbearable for the teen. All of this negative attention has completely eclipsed the teen’s recent win.
The medal ceremony has been postponed until after the gender results have been returned for Semenya, but for now the world watches and waits. Many just hope for a favorable outcome in all of this for Semenya, so that the teen can enjoy some of the glory she’s worked so hard for.

Each day there seems to be another story where a contestant from a reality show has committed some sort of crime in the past. The latest is Megan Wants a Millionaire contestant Ryan Jenkins, as he is a person of interest to the police for the murder of a woman. This is according to reports from TMZ.
Jasmine Fiore was a Playboy representative and was found dead inside a suitcase in a trash bin in Buena Park over the weekend. Jenkins had reported her missing on Saturday night, police tried to contact him on Saturday morning when the body was discovered.
Police had feared that Jenkins may be on the run to Canada. Jenkins was a final contestant on VH1’s “Megan Wants a Millionaire.” The show has already decided its winner, but is still being aired. TMZ have updated their story, showing a vehicle that Jenkins could have possible been driving.
